Acer Sync Pim Utility - Unexplained Errors During Sync
Acer Sync is a utility, from Acer, that allows a user to sync calender/contacts/ and other data between Google/Outlook/and Acer Devices.

However, Sometimes unexplained and mysterious erros occur during syncing.

Ther version of Acer Sync used during the creation of this blog was: v1.06.3006.0



Enable Logging:
  1. Open the registry: using regedit.exe
  2. Naviage to Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Sofware/Acer/AcerSync
  3. Create a new string value named: 'WriteLog'
  4. Restart any instances of Acer Sync (close them and run again)
  5. This will enable internal logging in Acer Sync
Examples of log file names:
  • AcerSyncLiveUpdate.log
  • AcerSyncTaskHandler.log
  • ADBComm.log
  • ADBParser.log
  • ADDPPeerManager.log
  • ApplicationChecker.log
  • FirewallWrapper.log
  • Google.log
  • etc
The Log Files are stored here:
  • Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Acer\AcerSync\Log
  • Windows Vista/7: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Acer\AcerSync\Log

Solve 'Unknown error' when syncing Contacts:

Sometimes entries stored under the SyncManager Folder (ie SyncPairs) become corrupted and must be deleted to sync successfully

  1. Delete files in the SyncManager folder:
    • Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Acer\AcerSync\Data\SyncManager
    • Windows Vista/7: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Acer\AcerSync\Data\SyncManager
  2. Review the log files in the folder metioned (in the 'enagle logging section') (this assumes that you enabled logging and there are log files being generated when acer sync starts)
